Saturday is the PR kick off meeting and stadium walk through, so Mike and Liam headed out pretty early. There is a coffee bar that sells Starbucks, so our morning ritual has now been instituted where Mike showers first, Liam goes in next and Mike goes to get the coffee and tea, while I sit in bed and do nothing. It's awesome. I did a little research on Atlas Obscura and have discovered that the famed beer can house is only 3 miles away... may need to put that on the list of 'must see' locations later in the week.
I have managed to bork my knee a bit, so decided to take it easy today. Sat by the pool for while - absolutely no one out there. Of course 50 degrees here means hats, scarves and mittens while for a Bostonian it means 'Bring the Commander a margarita!'
The SB can't properly start for me without seeing DT and getting our annual selfie. The only reason I get to be here every year, and why Mike still gets to work the event, is because of his generosity. I don't know how to thank him for 16 years of amazing SB memories, but maybe if he and his lovely wife Sara come visit us in Boston, we can somehow make a dent in it!
Had dinner at Irma's Southwest Grill. Food was awesome, margaritas were great and the walk was short - perfect. The area around the hotel is really busy - pretty much everything is located here and the convention center and NFL experience are just across the street. Had a glass of wine in the hotel bar with Mike and DT, headed up to the pool area to check out the view - which was fantastic. Houston has done a MUCH better job creating a buzz around the event downtown than they did in 2004.
