Year and Make of your Happier Camper?

2019 HC1

What’s your tow vehicle?

Honda Pilot

Why did you buy a Happier Camper?

We wanted a quicker set-up than tent camping. To always be ready to go.

Tell us about your camper!

We camp with our 8 year old daughter and large dog. So, we opted for the bunk bed. We enjoy cooking outside, and use the concession window/bar for our set-up.

What are your favorite HC features?

The back hatch is definitely our favorite feature. We are tent campers at heart, so we don’t want to be inside if we don't have to be. The HC1 allows us to camp in colder or hotter conditions than we could comfortably handle with a tent. Texas spring/summer usually requires AC for sleeping, and we like the option of having heat for fall and winter. It has extended the length of our camping season.

Best camping trip you’ve taken with your Happier Camper?

We haven’t had it long, and a lot of the time has been impacted by Covid. But, last Thanksgiving break we went from Austin to Tucson via West Texas and The Organ Mountains in New Mexico. We were far from home, and after 10 days we had really gotten really used to the functionality of our HC1. Our favorite spot on that trip was Aguirre Springs in New Mexico. It felt more like tent camping, since it was on the side of a mountain. We prefer that to a parking lot full of RV’s. Our hope is to get in more boondocking on the beaches of Texas or public/private land.

What’s your next planned camping trip?

We are going back to West Texas to the Davis Mountains/Marfa and to the beach on the Texas coast this spring.

What camping destination is on your bucket list?

We’d love to make it to Big Sur with our HC1.

Any advice for new owners?

Prepare yourself mentally for issues and learn to handle things yourself like repairing gel coat. One of the things you learn from everyone else with RVs is that things break.
